Resource, Advocacy & Legislative Leadership Initiative (RALLI) Committee
Purpose of committee
RALLI (Resource, Advocacy, & Legislative Leadership Initiative) is MCEA’s legislative and advocacy committee. Members attend monthly meetings, provide data for resource development, identify training or communication opportunities, share program expertise and geographic perspective, become knowledgeable about all community education program areas, become knowledgeable about the legislative process and how funding occurs in all program areas. The goals of this committee is to develop financial resources that support the MCEA mission and strengthen Community Education programs statewide through advocacy, collaboration, data collection and the legislative process. Educate and engage the MCEA membership in the legislative process. Create awareness of legislative outcomes.
Why is it important for MCEA to be involved in the legislative process?
The legislative process convenes a body of elected officials to debate the merits of the programs and services funded by the government. The elected officials, State Senators and Representatives, are people like you and I. Realizing that it is impossible for any one person to know the details of the breadth of programs and services funded by the government, legislators rely on us to inform and educate them on the impact of possible legislation. MCEA strives to support the field of community education through legislative advocacy to ensure effective legislation and sustainable sources of funding that result in the delivery of affordable programs and service.
