Community Education has impacted my life from an early age.

During the summer after first grade, I was introduced to Community Education (CE) Programming through the Summer Block Fun offered by my local community education program. My mom encouraged me to participate in a program and I chose tennis. This early introduction to the sport of tennis and community education has shaped my life as I continued to participate in tennis throughout elementary school and in middle school I signed up to be a Teen Team volunteer. In my high school and college years, I was hired as a CE tennis instructor. When I moved north, naturally I sought out tennis at the local CE and unfortunately it wasn’t provided. Immediately, I applied to teach tennis in Hermantown and when the enrichment coordinator position opened up a few years later, I knew it was a perfect fit. I am now eight years into both of my roles as the Hermantown Community Education Proctor and the University of Minnesota Duluth Head Women’s Tennis Coach.
