Tuning into student voices.
Students from Anoka-Hennepin’s six middle schools are serving on a newly-formed Middle School Advisory Council. The students are helping Community Education staff to better understand how youth and families engage with middle school programs and brainstorm possible new after-school activities focused on their interests.
After students shared ideas about what they would like to see offered outside of their school day, the group voted on their favorite ideas. Some suggestions included baking, aviation robotics, knitting, TikTok dances, cup stacking, photography, chalk art and video editing. We are excited to provide opportunities directly tied to listening to our community!
