Alumni Committee
Introduction
Over the course of your career in community education, you’ve made many friendships and connections. The MCEA Alumni Committee is here to help you keep those friendships and connections active during your retirement years! We’ll also help you stay updated on the work of MCEA.
The MCEA Alumni Committee sends out information about upcoming retiree events, MCEA updates, and other items of interest 6-12 times per year, mostly through email. If you’d like to be a part of this network, please complete the form found here: There are no fees to be a part of the alumni group. To continue your support of MCEA, we’d encourage you to join as a Lifetime Member (fee is $75). Membership information can be found HERE.
Impact
Since 2017, the MCEA Alumni Committee has hosted an annual golf tournament in July. Proceeds from the tournament support the MCEA Scholarship Fund and the Brett Carlson Memorial Scholarship Fund. Over the years, the golf tournament has raised over $11,000 in support of these important MCEA scholarships.

Purpose of committee
The purpose of the alumni group is to enrich and strengthen the MCEA membership by continuing to engage former MCEA members and provide a conduit between current practitioners and those no longer working in the field; to identify and develop services that promote membership in the organization and to implement actionable goals put forth by MCEA Board.
History
In the summer of 2016, the MCEA Board convened a meeting of past MCEA presidents to discuss how MCEA could better serve those members who’d either retired or left the field. At that meeting, the idea of an alumni group came into being. A smaller planning team was convened to design bylaws, identify additional committee members, and to get established as an official MCEA committee. The first MCEA Alumni Committee Meeting took place at a Waconia restaurant in January 2017.
