Early Childhood Family Education/School Readiness Coordinator

Job Summary: 
The ECFE/SR Coordinator develops and implements the delivery of Early Childhood Family Education and School Readiness programs to the public within the guidelines established by the Detroit Lakes Public Schools and under the supervision of the Community Education Director.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Organizes and presents data regarding ECFE & School Readiness courses offering alternatives to the public.
    1. Develops ECFE & SR classes and activities; including, but not limited to, on-going activities, special events, parent and child together classes and School Readiness offerings.
    2. Prepares and distributes pertinent preschool information to families and the community through print, Community Education catalogs, technology and presentations, and personal contact.
    3. Completes annual community Needs Assessment and develops programming based on Needs Assessment summaries.
       
  2. Develops, organizes and assists staff in implementing curriculum related to Early Childhood and scheduled program offerings.
    1. Assists in the establishment of long and short term goals.
    2. Oversees and assists staff in meeting program goals.
    3. Works with teachers and parents to ensure children’s educational needs are addressed.
       
  3. Oversees ECFE, School Readiness,  Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) and Pathways II budgets.
           a. Prepares and monitors budgets, requisitions, supplies and equipment needs in collaboration with the Community Education Director.
           b. Establishes/ assigns School Readiness tuition fees and communicates fees with parents, School Readiness administrative assistant and ECSE staff as needed.
     
  4. Staffing
           a. Establishes and communicates Early Childhood and Parent Education staffing plans and schedules.
           b. Is responsible for hiring and training ECFE & School Readiness staff within district guidelines
           c. Ensures appropriate staff receive necessary training and information.
           d. Assists with supervision, and communications, regarding staff needs and requests, program activities, and expectations based on participant and staff feedback.
           e. Participates in as needed and monthly ECFE & School Readiness teacher meetings and follows up with staff requests as appropriate.
           f. Instruct School Readiness and ECFE classes as necessary.
           g. Resolves complaints and issues.
     
  5. Reporting
            a.  Collects data, prepares and submits ECFE Annual Reports:  including the MDE ECFE Participation Report and provides data to district administration for Early Education Student Report and Common Course Catalog.
            b. Collects data, prepares and submits School Readiness Annual Reports:  including the MDE Participation Report and the Program Plans.
            c.  Prepares and submits Parent Aware Renewal.
            d.  Collects data, prepares and submits Pathways II Scholarships (ELSA – Early Learning Scholarship) – Program Applications, maintains scholarships and provides minimum quarterly billing. 
            e.  Prepares and provides participation hours and billing information to district administration for children enrolled in School Readiness who receive ECSE or Title 1 services/funding.
            f.  Prepares and provides Home Visiting billing information to district administration.
            g. Collects and provides on-going census data to district administration.
    6.  Meetings / Collaboration
            a. Participates in quarterly ECFE Advisory Council meetings; which include following up with recommendations, preparing agendas and distribution of information.
            b. Participates in Community based Early Childhood Initiative meetings, Head Start meetings, Pre-K Alignment, and MDE meetings or trainings related to updated program requirements.
    7. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Licensure/Degree:
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood and/or Parent Education (dual licensure preferred).

Experience:

  • 1 or more years of directly related experience with program coordination
  • 3 or more years of experience in Early Childhood or related field

Salary:  $65,000 – $75,000 (depending on qualifications)

Schedule:  200 days/annually
