SUMMARY:

The OST Lead Supervisor (OLS) is responsible for developing and implementing Out of School Time (OST) programs that follow Hopkins School District’s philosophy, policies, and procedures, that support the healthy development of youth. Through maintaining a safe, healthy environment for students following program health and safety procedures that meet DHS and MNSACA standards. In addition, The OLS is responsible for providing site based leadership, support, and planning for all out of school time programs at their designated site that allows students to build relationships, explore interests, new experiences, through culturally representative and responsive enrichment and academic skill building. OLS, will hire, supervise, direct, train, and evaluate the performance of all out of school time staff, instructors, and volunteers for Kids & Company and Youth Enrichment programs. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive.  Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job-related knowledge and skills.

  • Support Hopkins Community Education’s mission by providing fun, safe, and enriching youth experiences in a respectful and nurturing environment and promote life-long learning skills in all students and youth during out-of-school time.
  • Support the department goals by:
    1. Providing opportunities for students to learn by making choices that contribute to both their growth in life-long learning skills and their development into becoming respectful and responsible adults.
    2. Providing a safe and inclusive environment where all students have belonging, opportunity, and resources
    3. Providing students with new experiences and involvement in the community
    4. Supporting families by providing community resources and support.
    5. Providing opportunities for students to succeed by collaborating with Special Services and Classroom teachers in relation to child studies, TSAT, Transition meetings, and IEP management.
    6. Cultivate, support, and expand partnerships between school, families, and communities to support all learners.
  • Develop and implement Community Education OST programming with intention, creativity, data, and responsiveness to evolving community needs
  • Develop and implement effective and enriching anti-bias, anti- racist, inclusive OST environment and curriculum in alignment with Vision 2031, Hopkins Public Schools mission, Hopkins Community Education mission, and MNSACA standards.
  • Create staffing plans for the site, following DHS guidelines for ratios, breaks, prep time, including Non school days, ensuring youth are supervised at all times.
  • Serve as an emergency substitute if no other suitable substitutes can be found.
  • Supervises the day to day operation of the Community Ed OST programs, including communicating with instructors, staff, participants, and families.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, train, support, and assist in the evaluation and coaching of instructors, staff and volunteers for OST programs.
  • Create a team atmosphere through effective communication, regular staff meetings, and ongoing coaching and mentoring.
  • Oversee the maintenance of  staff development records based on identified needs of staff and program improvement goals.
  • Manage employee True Time for Kids & Company.
  • Collaborate with the Enrichment Supervisor and Kids & Company Program Supervisor to maintain and monitor registration database, facilities scheduling, and program budget and purchases for OST programs.
  • Market and promote all OST programs in the community through multi media channels that are inclusive and accessible to all.
  • Collaborate with the building principal, Enrichment Supervisor and Youth Programs Coordinator in planning and implementing the District Targeted Services program.
  • Work collaboratively with buildings & grounds to develop & maintain a safe and healthy environment for children by following district health and safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Lead the development of curriculum and daily schedule that fosters the individual growth and development of all students and youth, in before and after school care, non-school days, special events, and field trips.
  • Assess quality of OST activity content and instruction through observation and feedback from participants and staff.
  • Support students when special needs arise, including but not limited to, toileting, de-escalation, medication administration, and limited program accommodations when needed.
  • Ensure that all families are enrolled and new and existing families receive Kids & Company orientation.
  • Maintain staff professional development records based on identified needs of staff and program improvement goals including required training to meet DHS and MNSACA standards.
  • Implement and follow DHS Standards as a CCAP certified center
  • Maintain accurate student records, personnel files, and any other business forms
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality regarding staff, students, and their families.
  • Participate with the Program Supervisor in an ongoing self-performance review.
  • Participate on school/district committees per request.
  • Perform other related tasks and assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Kids & Company Program Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. degree in education or related field or equivalent of education and experience
  • Previous successful experience working with elementary age children in a recreational setting (at least two years of experience preferred)
  • Knowledge of youth development, ability to assess individual children’s needs and develop positive relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and children.
  • Ability to lead and work effectively in a team environment
  • Excellent skills in the areas of communication, collaboration, organization, evaluation and team building.
  • Knowledge of current technologies and ability to use available technology resources for efficiency and effectiveness
  • Proficiency with google docs, word, outlook features
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.

  • Driver’s license.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work is performed in an office setting.
  • Travel required to locations throughout the District.

Compensation and Schedule: 
1.0 FTE, 8 hours/day, 261 Days/year
Salary Range: $58,069-$79,022 depending on qualifications depending on qualifications
