Job Summary:

The School Age Care Manager is responsible for the start up and development, launch, and ongoing management of Shakopee Public Schools’ school age care program. This leadership role oversees program operations, staffing, and budget management to ensure the delivery of a safe, nurturing, and high-quality program that meets the needs of students and families in our diverse community. The position works collaboratively with district departments, school administrators, staff, and families and operates in alignment with the district’s mission, values, and commitment to equity and inclusion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the Director of Community Education, lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a start-up school age care program.
  • Establish and oversee daily program operations, procedures, and schedules.
  • Ensure program compliance with licensing, safety regulations, and district policies.
  • Facilitate and oversee curriculum development for site activities and events that aligns to the district’s strategic plan, youth development and state guidelines.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate program staff, Create staffing plans that ensure appropriate coverage and high-quality programming.
  • Provide leadership to program staff, including goal-setting, development, coaching and evaluation.
  • Develop and manage program budgets in collaboration with the Community Education Director, monitor expenditures, revenues and program sustainability.
  • Ensure programming meets the needs of families, including culturally responsive and inclusive practices, including growing and expanding programs as needed.
  • Lead CCAP process and schedule and attend annual site program visits, maintain and meet all criteria based on current DHS standards.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment for all students.
  • Work with Communications on a marketing plan including website, events. flyers, advertisements, email marketing and social media.
  • Assist with preparing and presenting reports for school board presentations and advisory council meetings as requested.
  • Proactively create opportunities for family engagement. Address student, family and staff concerns as they arise.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Excellent program management skills such as supervision, program development, budgeting, marketing and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of best practice/quality in School Age Care programs, maintain accountability in all aspects of the program complying with standards and guidelines of accreditation, school district policies and procedures and Minnesota Statutes.
  • Demonstrates training and experience in group facilitation and conflict resolution, plan and facilitate staff meetings, in-services and professional development training for staff.
  • Proficient with technology, including Apple and Google computer operating systems, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, as well as registration systems.
  • Excellent skills in the areas of communication, collaboration, organization, evaluation and team building.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in education, child/youth development, or related field required.
  • 3-5 years of supervising staff and managing school-age care or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare, monitor and control program budgets, ensure fiscal accountability.
  • Experience in CCAP Certification.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed, to meet program needs.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation Package:

  • $74,760 – $109,070 annually, based on experience and qualifications
  • 25 vacation days and 15 sick days annually
  • 12 paid holidays (includes 2 floating holidays)
