PR is Not a Bad Word – Virtual Workshop

December 13 @ 10:00 am - 12:15 pm

PR is Not a Bad Word
Presenter: Kim Ratz

Good public relations is about creating and sustaining a continuous, two-way flow of information and interaction with all your internal and external publics.  While much of your public relations is a result of how your employees conduct themselves and carry out their jobs everyday, every school and department can do a better job of how you serve and interact with your internal and external publics.  After reviewing some basic components of what should be included in a PR Plan and effort for your Community Education department, you’ll begin to get a sense of the many things you are probably already doing that are “PR,” as well as other things you want to change/strengthen, and things you want to start doing.  We will also make time to answer questions as well as discuss specific situations you might be dealing with now, and help you see the next steps you can take to improve how you manage your public relations issues and opportunities.

Learning objectives for this session:

1. You can explain the basic purpose of a good public relations plan, and why it’s important to your Community Education department.

2. You can identify your internal and external publics, and list ways to create and sustain two-way communication with each public.

3. You can identify some “next steps” to help your Community Education department create or improve your PR Plan and achieve your PR goals.
