SAC Support Paraprofessional
Location: Somerset Elementary School
1:45 – 6:00 PM: M-F, various non school days
$14.36– $15.80 per hour based on the 2017- 2019 salary schedules for district paraprofessionals.
Line of Supervision:
Responsible to the SAC site supervisor and the Facilitator and Coordinator of School Age Care.
To assist the instructional assistant(s) in providing a quality, age appropriate school age care programming curriculum under the direction of the Program Coordinator.
Experience with children in group situations
Good communication skills
High degree of flexibility
Experience working with children of diverse economic, social, and cultural backgrounds.
Position Requirements Include:
Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent.
Assist in the implementation and preparation of curriculum and enrichment activities for students.
Assist in guiding children’s behavior using a positive and consistent style.
Knowledge of and ability to implement emergency procedures.
Prepare, serve and clean up snack
Participate with children in activities.
Assist with homework help.
Assist in supervising field trips.
Assist in supervising children’s indoor and outdoor playtimes.
Work in small groups to assist student’s with daily activities.
Must be available to work non-school days.
Other duties as assigned by site supervisor.
Physically capable of meeting all performance responsibilities required with students, including moderate standing, walking, stooping, bending and kneeling. Presenting information to students and lifting up to 40 pounds.
Frequent: standing, walking, ability to walk two miles on uneven terrain, lifting waist to chest, lifting below waist, carrying, stooping, kneeling, crouching, squatting, twisting/pivot, reaching, simple grasp, firm grasp, fine manipulation, feeling, talking, hearing & visual accommodation.
Occasional: sitting, pushing, pulling, climbing, crawling, and exposure to weather when supervising children during outdoor play time. Ability to accompany children in the water on swimming field trips.
