Early Childhood Family Education ( ECFE) – Parent Educator
Hutchinson Public Schools is currently seeking an ECFE Parent Educator for the 2021-22 school year.
Plan, prepare, and facilitate parent groups in accordance with the overall Early Learning program policies, goals, and philosophy. Research, interpret, and present current information on family issues, serve as a resource for parents, and provide referral information as needed. The Parent Educator will use the Parent Education core curriculum framework as the curriculum guide, observe and monitor, along with the EC Teacher, all areas of a child’s development and will meet with parents as necessary to address any concerns. The Parent Educator will help to create a climate of trust and safety for parents and children in the classroom. He/She will also collaborate with the district’s Early Learning team to ensure best practices are modeled in all ECFE classrooms. The Parent Educator will develop a positive relationship with parents and children by modeling appropriate behavioral strategies in the classroom. The parent educator will also maintain a healthy, positive learning environment for parents, children and the Early Learning team as a whole.
ECFE is a customer driven program – work hours are based on class registrations
Flexible and varied hours
Classes are held Monday-Thursday ( day and early evening) with outreach activities, home visits, family special events and classes on some evening and occasional Saturdays.
Participate in monthly staff and PLC meetings
Develop and maintain records/lesson plans electronically
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the ECFE Early Learning Coordinator, ECFE staff, Early Learning department and other District personnel, families, and the community
Must hold a Valid/Current MN Parent Education or Family Education License
Knowledge of early childhood development ( birth – Kindergarten) as well as Adult learning, parent education and the parent education core curriculum framework
Knowledge of current resources for families
Prior experience in ECFE and or Parent Education preferred but not required
Strong passion for early childhood education and exhibit the characteristics to work effectively with parents and young children
Ability to work independently with limited supervision as well as with other Early Learning team members
Self motivated, problem solver, and flexible with strong organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of the Second Step or other social/emotional curriculums
Responsible to: ECFE Early Learning Coordinator and West Elementary Principal
