Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Early Learning School Director

Basic Function of the Position: The Early Learning Manager supports early learning programs including ECFE, part-day and full-day preschool, early childhood special education, early childhood screening, and outreach. Collaborates with families and staff and is responsible for the proper interpretation and performance of the duties and responsibilities of the position.

 Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
Assist the director with planning and managing early learning programs in accordance with overall program philosophy, goals, and policies and in accordance with certification requirements.
Facilitate and gather feedback from Wayzata Early Learning School staff to review and update needs of the program.
Supervise the development and implementation of a curriculum and environment which meets the social, emotional, intellectual and physical needs of all children.
Support early learning staffing in delivering appropriate assessments to students.
Provide a safe and positive environment.
Serve as a liaison and build positive relationships with students, parents, staff, administration and the communities we serve.
Assist in public relations and outreach for the program.
Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, scheduling and dismissing staff, as necessary.
Supervise and evaluate employees through regular conferences with individuals and by direct supervision and observation.
Design and maintain accurate records (e.g. attendance, sign-in sheets, salary hours, staff CPR, in-service, first aid and Hennepin County records).
Supervise planning of field trips and special events.
Perform other tasks as assigned or apparent.

Education and/or Experience:
A bachelor’s degree in early education, early childhood special education, parent education or related field preferred. A minimum of 3-5 years experience in early childhood education and/or childcare. Strong knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices. Strong knowledge of early childhood best practices including Classroom Engagement Model, Pyramid Model, and Early Childhood Indicators of Progress preferred.
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations: A current license in early childhood education or ability to obtain, preferred.  Valid Minnesota Driver’s License, required.

 Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply knowledge of development, assessments, learning principles, behavior strategies and environmental variables in making decisions about early learner educational programming.
Ability to design programs and instruct staff to effectively meet student needs.
Ability to be flexible, changing thought processes and plans when necessary.
Prioritize tasks to support an effective program and fulfill job responsibilities.
