Up to $8000 Hiring and Retention Bonus Possible: through a grant from The Come Teach in Minnesota Program, licensed teachers who are American Indian or people of color, and who move to Minnesota may be eligible for a hiring bonus of up to $2,500. If eligible teachers are serving in a licensure shortage area, the hiring bonus may be up to $4,000. A retention bonus equal to the hiring bonus may also apply. Learn more about this program here.

Supervisor of Position:  Chris Lindquist, Director of Community Education
Qualifications: Valid Minnesota K-12 Teaching License (or ESL or ABE license); strong communication organizational and technology skills; experience in an ESL or ABE academic program with adults is preferred.  Knowledge of GED standards and requirements, general knowledge of state and federal ABE laws, rules and guidelines required.
Summary of Duties: Instruct adult students individually or in small or large groups and engage the community to facilitate program growth.
Under the direction of the Community Education Director, the ABE Coordinator/Instructor is responsible for guiding, instructing and supporting students ages 17 years and older in pursuing academic goals in the areas of GED preparation, adult diploma, English acquisition and proficiency; Accuplacer preparation; American citizenship preparation; acculturation and employment. Perform other duties as assigned in support of instructional efforts including participating in professional development activities.

As site coordinator, duties include providing coordination and direction to ABE Assistants and program volunteers, maintain all student records including attendance and transcripts, maintain and develop curriculum that best supports the needs of the students and support strong partnership with Metro North ABE.
