DESCRIPTION
Help Young People Share Their Voice at the Capitol!
On Tuesday, March 27, 2018, join us for Youth Day at the Capitol 2018 (YDAC18), an annual event connecting youth, community experts and local policymakers.
(For all info., use this link – https://www.eventbrite.com/e/ youth-day-at-the-capitol-2018- tickets-39561277847)

Our goal is to get young people talking with their legislators about issues that are important to them. We want young people to understand that our elected officials work for the people, including young people!

The day is divided into five “tracks,” each of which includes the same core activities:

  • An interactive training focused on political advocacy and leadership
  • Meetings with legislators
  • Viewing the “1968” exhibit at the Minnesota History Center.
  • Time for a guided or unguided Capitol tour (you must register for a guided tour)

The core activities in each track are staggered to allow for an efficient flow of groups through the exhibit. Each track includes time for lunch; groups are responsible for bringing their own food, ordering from the Minnesota History Center, or finding a place nearby. See “Lunch Options” below for more information.

Groups can come early or stay late and include a free tour of the Capitol (either guided or self-guided). All attendees are invited to the Minnesota Youth Council legislative hearing from 2-4 p.m. at the Capitol to wrap up the day.
